DPA MICROPHONES - Headworn and Earset

A series of headworn microphones from DPA, designed for presentation, live stage, and theatre use and available in various colours, styles, and pickup patterns.

Ordering Note

Versions are listed with MicroDot termination for use with optional DPA MicroDot adapter, however some items are also listed as fixed type termination versions. These versions do not have a MicroDot termination and are available as fixed 3-pin LEMO (03), TA4F mini-XLR (10), or 3.5mm locking jack with Sennheiser compatibility (34). Please specify the termination required when ordering.

6000 CORE Series

DPA’s CORE 6000 series headworn microphones feature their ‘smallest ever’ microphone capsule. Designed for use in pro audio markets such as broadcast, theatre and film, the 6000 series sub-miniature microphones are 3mm in diameter, ‘two millimetres smaller than the DPA’s existing 4000 series’ microphones.

The CORE technology used in the capsules provides a more defined sound by minimising distortion and expanding the dynamic range. Although originally designed for use with wireless systems in theatre, television and close-positioned instrument applications, the omnidirectional capsules also use ‘hermetic sealing’ and a ‘nano coating’ to provide an IP rating of 58 – making the microphones applicable to on field sports where moisture from the body or atmosphere are unavoidable.


6066 CORE - Omnidirectional, dual-ear support

Available in black, beige, or brown the 6066 CORE has a dual-ear design with ‘3-point gripping system’ which utilises support on the ear, behind the ear, and under the ear, ‘gently pressing inward’ to sit more securely around the ear as well as making more ergonomic and comfortable for longer periods of use. The boom are is 130mm in length and can be adjusted in length as well as pivoted up and down to ensure best positioning. The omnidirectional pre-polarised condenser capsule of the DPA 6066 CORE has a dynamic range of 102dB typical, and a maximum SPL of 144dB with a nominal sensitivity of 6mV/Pa. The mic capsule has a diameter of 3mm and has a fixed cable of 1.3m, giving for a total weight of 11g including MicroDot connector.

Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz; 40Hz-20kHz, +/-2dB (with softboost at 8-20kHz). Equivalent noise level: 26dB typical, A-weighted. Signal to noise ratio: 68dB typical, A-weighted.

The microphones are fitted with cable terminated in a 'MicroDot' connector. A range of adapters for different wireless transmitters and direct cable connection is available.

4000 CORE Series

DPA CORE series implements new technology within existing DPA capsules, to provide a more defined sound by minimising distortion and expanding the dynamic range. Although originally designed for use with wireless systems in theatre, television and close-positioned instrument applications, the omnidirectional capsules also use 'hermetic sealing' and a 'nano coating' to provide an IP rating of 58 - particularly relevant to on-field sports, where moisture from the body or atmosphere are unavoidable.

The acoustic response of the microphone is selected by the choice of two 'protection grids' supplied with each microphone. The short grid gives a 3dB soft boost at 8-20kHz and is intended to be used when the microphone is mounted on the performer's head. The long grid gives a 10dB boost at 12kHz, intended for chest placement. The grids can be detached from the microphone and cleaned of sweat, make-up etc. with alcohol.

The microphones are fitted with cable terminated in a 'MicroDot' connector. A range of adapters for different wireless transmitters and direct cable connection is available. A range of fixing clips (not included) are also available.


4066 CORE - Omnidirectional, dual-ear support

Available in black, brown, or beige the 4066 CORE capsule is configured as a headset with dual ear rests. The omnidirectional pre-polarised condenser capsule has a reduced sensitivity compared to the Legacy 4066 capsule, giving increased dynamic range of 111dB typical, and a maximum SPL of 144dB with a nominal sensitivity of 6mV/Pa. The microphone capsule has a diameter of 5.4mm and has a fixed cable of 1.2m in length and 1.6mm in diameter, for a total weight of 14g including MicroDot connector.


4088 CORE - Directional, dual-ear support

Available in black, brown, or beige, again in a headset configuration with dual ear rests, this capsule has all the audio and physical properties of the 4066 CORE with the exception of the pickup pattern, which in this case is cardioid.


4166 CORE - Omnidirectional, dual-ear/single-ear support

This is available in black, brown, or beige and as headset configurations with either dual or single ear-rests. Both configurations offer boom arm lengths of 110mm, 90mm, or 40mm. The omnidirectional pre-polarised condenser capsule of the 4166 CORE SLIM has the audio properties of the 4066 CORE except that the capsule is of slimline proportions as opposed to the cylindrical properties of the 4066 CORE.


4188 CORE - Omnidirectional, dual-ear/single-ear support

This is available in black, brown, or beige and as headset configurations with either dual or single ear-rests. Both configurations offer various boom arm lengths of 120mm or 100mm. The cardioid, directional pre-polarised condenser capsule of the DPA 4188 CORE SLIM has the audio properties of the 4088 CORE. However the capsule is of slimline proportions as opposed to the cylindrical properties of the 4088 CORE.


4266 CORE - Omnidirectional, dual-ear/single-ear support

This microphone offers the same audio properties as the 4066 CORE however the boom arm is interchangeable. The 4266 CORE is available in black, beige, or brown, with boom arm lengths of 110mm or 90mm. A headset version with dual ear mount, or ear-set version with a single ear mount is available.


4288 CORE - Directional, dual-ear/single-ear support

This microphone offers the same audio properties as the 4088 CORE, however the boom arm is interchangeable. The 4288 CORE is available in black, beige, or brown, with boom arm lengths of 120mm or 100mm. A headset version with dual ear-rests and an ear-set version with single ear rest is available.


4466 CORE - Omnidirectional, adjustable dual-ear support

4466 omnidirectional headset microphone combines the audio specifications of the 4066 CORE with the 2-way adjustable boom and dual ear support of the 6066 CORE resulting in a microphone that can be used on various sized heads - useful for touring or hire. 4466 is available in black, brown, or beige, with terminations including MicroDot, 3.5mm locking jack, 3-pin LEMO, and 4-pin mini-XLR.


4488 CORE - Directional, adjustable dual-ear support

4488 directional headset microphone combines the audio specifications of the 4088 CORE with the 2-way adjustable boom and 3-point ear clamp of the 6066 CORE resulting in a microphone that can be used on various sized heads - useful for touring or hire. 4488 is available in black, brown, or beige, with terminations including MicroDot, 3.5mm locking jack, 3-pin LEMO, and 4-pin mini-XLR.

Adapters and Accessories
