SENNHEISER RADIOMICS - Evolution Digital

Sennheiser EW-D (Evolution Wireless Digital) series of radio systems are available as complete systems or in component form with either handheld transmitters or belt-pack transmitters for use with instruments or lapel microphones. The technology utilised in these digital wireless systems allows the user more scope to build, with up to 24 wireless systems per frequency range. A 56MHz bandwidth will allow up to 90 channels of EW-D. This is achieved by using the same equidistant tuning grid technology that is present in the Sennheiser Digital 6000 and Digital 9000 systems. The user can employ Sennheiser’s Smart Assist app to remotely setup and monitor up to 16 EW-D systems in the chain via Bluetooth.

As this series of wireless systems are not compatible with Sennheiser Evolution G4 analogue wireless systems, to avoid confusion, the available frequency bands for the digital systems have been given new frequency range names. Therefore the following denotes which band represents which frequency range:

EW-D EM DIGITAL RADIOMIC RECEIVER Fixed

A digital wireless receiver with Bluetooth technology for EW-D Smart Assist App setup and control. This fixed receiver has a bandwidth of 56MHz, up to 2240 selectable frequencies and ability to allow up to 90 channels of digital wireless to operate simultaneously.

The ‘all-metal’ housing aids durability and the included rackmount set gives the user the option to mount within a 19” rack case or position on desktop surface – protected from scratches and movement via the four included rubber feet.

The rear facing panel houses the DC power inlet and cable grip for the included NT 12-5 CW+ power supply. A single, balanced audio output is provided by way of 3-pin XLR connector, whilst a balanced/unbalanced audio output is provided via a 6.35mm jack connection. Two BNC connections for the included antenna rods or optional BNC remote antenna cables complete rear panel connectivity.

The front facing panel of the EW-D receiver has an illuminated graphical LCD displaying information including RF signal, AF level, transmitter battery status, frequency selection, group, and menu functionality. Controls include a 'Sync' button for wireless connection between receiver and transmitter, up/down cursors, 'Set' button, 'ESC' escape button and power on/off button.

EW-DP EK DIGITAL RADIOMIC RECEIVER Portable

This portable receiver has been designed with many of the features of the EW-D EM, however it is housed in a portable form for use with video cameras or mounted on a belt. The receiver can be powered for up to 12 hours via a BA 70 lithium-ion battery, or 2x AA battery cells. The housing is magnetic, and can be magnetically stacked for multiple channels. EW-DP EK has a dynamic range of 134dB, a latency of 1.9ms, and a bandwidth of up to 56MHz. The unit can be externally charged using the USB-C connector.

Audio frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz, -3dB. Bluetooth frequency: 2402 to 2480MHz. Input voltage: 1.8 - 4.35V. Input current: less than 350mA, typical; less than 400mA, maximum. EW-D SK DIGITAL RADIOMIC TRANSMITTER Beltpack, no mic

A single channel, all-metal beltpack wireless transmitter that operates via 2x AA 1.5V batteries for up to 8 hours, or 12 hours using a BA 70 Lithium-ion battery pack. The transmitter has a locking 3.5mm jack input making it compatible with headset microphones including SL Headmic 1, ME 3, HS 2-EW, HSP Essential Omni, HSP 2-EW or HSP 4-EW; and lavalier microphones including ME 2, ME 4, MKE Essential Omni, version of MKE 1, versions of MKE 2, or MKE 40-4.

EW-D SK digital transmitter has a dynamic range of 134dB ensuring a high level of detail is preserved from the microphone pickup. The beltpack can be setup remotely using the automated setup and Smart Assist mobile app. Optional EW-D SK colour coding kit can be used to quickly identify each transmitter within a set.

EW-D SKM-S DIGITAL RADIOMIC TRANSMITTER Handheld, no capsule

EW-D SKM-S is a handheld transmitter with a metal body designed for vocals whether sung or spoken. Powered by two 1.5V AA batteries or a single BA 70 Lithium-ion battery - that can be inserted into the body of the microphone via a hidden threaded compartment; the handheld microphone has an operating time of around 8 hours of operational time with AA battery cells, or 12 hours with BA 70.

The transmitter is available in complete systems or stand alone and offers remote set up, mute switch, and Bluetooth for smart setup. The handheld transmitter does not include a capsule and is compatible with capsules including Sennheiser MMD 835-1 BK, MMD 845-1 BK, MME 865-1 BK, MMD 935-1 BK, MMD 945-1 BK, MMK 965-1 BK, MM 435, MM 445, and Neumann KK 204-S or KK 205-S.

EW-DP SKP DIGITAL RADIOMIC TRANSMITTER Plug-on

This plug-on transmitter is designed to enable the use of a non-wireless microphone with a wireless system by connecting via the 3-pin XLR. The transmitter features 48V phantom power for use with microphones such as condenser mics that require external powering, along with a 3.5mm jack input for use with a Sennheiser lavalier microphone. EW-DP SKP requires 2x AA battery cells or single BA 70 lithium-ion battery for use up to 12 hours. A microSD card slot allows the user to record the audio captured from the connected microphone. The 32-bit float recording is combined with the transmitter's 134dB dynamic range to ensure 'distortion free' recording. Alternatively the transmitter can be set to 24-bit, 48kHz record mode to save memory card space. A low-cut filter is preset to on, however this can be turned of if preferred.

EW-D SK BASE SET

This wireless set is designed for those who already have a lavalier or headworn microphone with compatible termination. The system comprises of EW-D EM receiver and EW-D SK beltpack transmitter. Other accessories included are NT 12-5CW+ power supply, rackmount kit, antenna rods and rubber feet for EW-D EM, and AA battery cells for EW-D SK transmitter.

Note: no microphone is included in this system.


EW-D SKM-S BASE SET

A handheld wireless system including EW-D EM receiver and EW-D SKM-S handheld transmitter. The microphone is compatible with optional MMD/MME/MMK/MM Evolution wireless microphone capsules. Other accessories included are NT 12-5CW+ power supply, rackmount kit, antenna rods and rubber feet for EW-D EM, and AA battery cells for EW-D SKM-S transmitter.

BA 70 BATTERY

A single, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery cell for either EW-D SK or EW-D SKM transmitter.


L 70 USB BATTERY CHARGER

This battery charger can accommodate up to 2x BA 70 batteries, operating on mains power via the included NT 5-20 UCW power supply. L 70 charging docks can also be cascaded.


EW-D CHARGING SET

This charging set includes 1x L 70 charging dock with power supply, and 2x BA 70 Lithium-ion batteries.


NT 12-5 CW+

A spare power supply for EW-D EM receiver. The ADAPTER SET NT 12-5 CW+ is an additional set of adapters for the NT 12-5 CW+ power supply.


EW-D COLOUR CODING SET

A set of colour coding markers, including 1x 16pc EW-D SK COLOUR CODING for EW-D SK beltpack transmitter, 1x 16pc EW-D SKM COLOUR CODING for EW-D SKM handheld transmitter, and 1x 16pc EW-D EM COLOUR CODING for EW-D EM receiver. These magnetic coloured additions attach to the EW-D SK/SKM/EM hardware for better identification at a glance.

EW-D SK COLOUR CODING, EW-D SKM COLOUR CODING, and EW-D EM COLOUR CODING are also available individually with each pack containing 16 pieces.

Antenna

MMD 835-1 BK - Dynamic, cardioid

MMK 965-1 BK - Large diaphragm, true condenser - cardioid or super-cardioid, switched

MM 435 - Dynamic, cardioid

Sennheiser describe the MM 435 capsule to have 'nuanced resolution and transparency'. It has a large diaphragm diameter and a frequency response of 40-20,000Hz. With a maximum SPL of 163dB and dynamic range of 146dB(A), MM 435 is designed for live vocals in high volume conditions.


MM 445 - Dynamic, super-cardioid

This microphone head has very similar attributes as the MM 435 however the pickup pattern is super-cardioid and is therefore more resistant to background noise and feedback.
