The Gefen DVI Detective and HDMI Detective models record the Extended Display Identification Data from a monitor, used to communicate to computers the array of video resolutions and timings it is capable of displaying. The Detective is then placed at the video output of the computer's video card, where it will provide the computer with a constant EDID signal, even if the display is switched to a different computer. HDCP pass-through is provided on the HDMI version, which supports up to 1080p and 1920x1200; DVI models are available with and without HDCP and support up to 3840x2400 (Dual Link) resolution.
