FOCUSRITE RED 16LINE AUDIO INTERFACE Rackmount, 64x64 I/O, ADAT, Thunderbolt 3, Dante

Designed for large recording sessions, post-production work, and Dolby Atmos immersive format recording, RedNet TNX is a portable Dante interface that delivers high-resolution, 'ultra-low' latency Dante audio with 128x128 channels at 24-bit/192kHz. Utilizing Dante Ready, RedNet TNX can be optionally expanded to 256x256 I/O audio channels at 24-bit/96kHz - all via a single Thunderbolt 3 connection for use with a Windows or Mac system.

With support for AES67 and Dante Domain Manager, plus SMPTE ST 2110 compliance (DDM required), RedNet TNX very well suited to broadcast deployments, whilst being portable enough to use on location. For larger channel requirements, the audio interface offers expandable connectivity with the optional upgrade to 256x256 audio channels at 24bit/96kHz with Dante Ready.

The rear facing panel houses all audio I/O connectivity, power connectivity, and status indicators. These include two Thunderbolt 3 ports, which are accompanied by corresponding Sonnet ThunderLoks. Each of the two Thunderbolt ports provides 15watts of power to allow the user to run multiple Thunderbolt devices in series. Dual Ethernet RJ-45 connections allow for both switched and redundant mode, offering flexible connectivity and the option to have a secondary network in mission-critical situations. An integrated network interface, allowing for network control via a single-cable connection. Status indication includes primary and secondary network active LEDs, and both primary and secondary network lock LEDs. 12V, 5A power input is by way of DC power connector, and a factory reset button is positioned to the left of the Ethernet ports.

RedNet TNX can be secured to a rack shelf using the exposed M5 x 12mm screw threads located on the underside of the unit.

Red 8Line has a total of 58 inputs and 64 outputs, including two Red Evolution mic preamplifiers, independent left/right monitor outs, 8x balanced line inputs and outputs on DB25 connectors, 32-channels of Dante I/O, 16-channel ADAT I/O at 48kHz, and stereo S/PDIF I/O. 'Professional-grade' 24-bit/192kHz analogue to digital and digital to analogue convertors, an analogue to digital dynamic range of 119dB, and a digital to analogue dynamic range of 121dB have been calibrated by Focusrite to provide 'the best balance of sound quality, dynamic range and conversion latency'.

Each of the two digitally-controlled Red Evolution microphone preamps provide up to 63dB gain, with individual +48V phantom power, 80Hz (+/-3Hz) high-pass filter, and phase reverse. An option to stereo-link the two channels, and a switchable 'Air mode' can also be employed for better result - with Air mode mimicking the sonic profile of the Focusrite ISA 110 input module.

For users who work in Pro Tools HD and other DAWs, switching without reconfiguring is made easy with both mini-DigiLink and Thunderbolt 3 connections. A change to the host mode either in RedNet Control software, or using the front panel changes the DAW. On-board Dante connection enables Red 8Line to communicate with industry-standard Audio-over-IP equipment. The interface has built-in monitor control for mono, stereo and multi-channel monitoring environments up to 7.1, whilst compatibility with Focusrite RedNet R1 desktop remote controller allows flexibility and customised presets for immersive monitoring environments including Dolby Atmos.

Three LCD displays are provided for level metering of any input or output block, as well as main monitor and headphone outputs. Two 6.35mm jack headphone outputs provide monitoring to headphones with an impedance of 32ohms to 600ohms. With the exception of the headphone outputs and two instrument inputs via 6.35mm jack on the front facing panel, all I/O connectivity is on the rear facing panel. This includes 2x balanced 3-pin XLR microphone inputs, channel 1-8 line inputs on DB25 connector, channel 1-8 output on D-sub connector, L/R monitor outputs on 6.35mm jack sockets, and S/PDIF I/O on RCA (phono). Optical I/O channels 1-8 and 9-16 are by way of TOSlink connection, word clock and loop sync are by way of BNC connectors, and Dante connections 1 and 2 are via RJ45 connectors. Dual Thunderbolt 3 and Pro Tools HD interfaces are also provided. 100V to 240V AC mains input is via IEC connector.
