GLENSOUND AUDIO INTERCOMS - Dante

Glensound Beatrice system is a range of network audio intercom devices utilising the Dante/AES67 network AoIP standards for transmission of real time uncompressed audio across networks. The range includes, beltpacks, desktops and rackmount units from 1-16 channels. There is also a number of peripheral units including a 'flasher' unit, a walkie-talkie interface, a 2 wire party line interface for RTS, Clearcomm and Tecpro, talkback wall plate positions, PoE amplifiers, PoE speakers and an intercom mixer - all on Dante/AES67 networks.

BEATRICE B1 - Single Channel, Beltpack

Glensound BEATRICE B1 is a single channel beltpack intercom designed for broadcast, theatre and professional audio applications. It was designed to be very easy to use for the operator and simple to set up for the technician. It includes the basic functionality required for small intercom systems and none of the complex installation requirements associated with larger systems.

A single bi-directional headset connection is on the rear of unit and is available with either 4-pin male XLR (Beatrice B1/4M) or 5-pin female XLR (Beatrice B1/5F) socket. This allows communication with one other circuit on the network. Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations. The rear also has an RJ45 Neutrik EtherCON for network connection to a PoE switch. This connection powers the unit and passes audio across a single network cable.

A ‘clear’ microphone amplifier, designed for communication purposes, is fitted. This also has the benefit of a compressor/limiter circuit to help keep levels and intelligibility consistent even when the operator gets overly excited. 12V phantom power is available and can be turned on/off as required. The headphone amplifier allows either low or high impedance headphones to be used, and automatically adjusts the output level to match the impedance of headphones in use. The headphone amplifier is stereo and sources can be panned to left or right ears as desired. The headphone amplifier can also drive mono earpieces from its stereo output without any performance issues.

The front facing panel features an easy to use volume control on a full size pot for adjusting the level in the headphones. When in configuration mode (using the side panel 'Update' button), this control can also be used to pan the incoming circuit to one ear or the other, adjust the sidetone level, turn phantom power on/off, adjust the incoming call level, toggle party mode on/off, or adjust the input gain. There is a 3-position talk switch which is ‘off’ when in the centre mode. When pushed down it is a momentary activation of the mic which will spring back to the centre off position when released. When pushed up the mic is locked on. A red LED indicates the unit is receiving a call signal - this will also be heard in the headphones. There is a mic active and power LED. Double tapping the talk switch sends a call signal from the Beatrice B1.

On the side panel with the ‘update’ button, there is also an external talk switch input on a 3.5mm jack socket. Bridging tip to sleeve on this socket will activate the Beatrice B1’s talk circuit.

Audio routing to/from other devices is setup using Dante controller which allows for point to multipoint routing on outgoing circuits (but only one single incoming circuit for an incoming channel). An inbuilt party line/IFB facility allows the incoming circuit to be routed to the output circuit making a simple party line or IFB.

This replaces the XLR3F and 6.35mm jack socket. Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations. The rear also has an RJ45 Neutrik EtherCON for network connection to a PoE switch. This connection powers the unit and passes audio across a single network cable.

The function of each button can be configured based on the way the user wishes to work: momentary (channel is only active whilst button is held down), latching (a single press locks or unlocks the button), intelligent (short tap locks and a long press is momentary), or always on (holding button mutes the channel like a cough switch). A double tap of any talk button will send a call signal on that channel.

Four yellow LEDs indicate a channel is receiving a call signal - this will also be heard in the headphones, and this allows the user to see which channel is calling. There are also four red presence LEDs which will indicated which channels are receiving a signal.

To make setup of the unit intuitive a display is provided on the top panel. This display provides a simple menu system for setting up such items as: Button Configuration Input Type (Mic Line), Microphone Gain, Phantom Power On/Off, Sidetone Level (own voice in own headphones), Partyline/IFB/Loop-through Mode, Mixing Cutting of Partyline when User Speaks. Each channel can therefore be set separately to be in a separate party line mode if required. Setup and reset buttons are located on the side panel.

Audio routing to/from other devices is setup using Dante controller which allows for point to multipoint routing on outgoing circuits (but only 1 single incoming circuit for an incoming channel).

Dante Ultimo chipset. Audinate recommended not to use more than 10x Ultimo devices on a single network, unless there is a Broadway or Brooklyn device also on the network. As an Ultimo device, the Beatrice B4 can receive 4x incoming audio channels each at 48kHz. However this chipset can only receive these four audio channels from a maximum of two network locations.

BEATRICE B4+ - Four Channel, Beltpack

Beatrice B4+ has been designed as an advanced 4-channel intercom unit using the Dante Broadway chipset which means the B4+ can send/receive audio from four separate network locations. As a Broadway design with better clock speeds than the Ultimo, it can also be used to act as a master clock on a network containing only Ultimo devices.

The microphone input is on a 3-pin XLR socket with gain adjust and selectable 48v phantom power. This XLR connection can also be specified as a 4-pin XLR male plug or 5-pin XLR female socket. A separate 6.35mm headphone jack socket is always available. A Neutrik EtherCON connects the Beatrice B4+ to the network for passing audio and powering the unit via PoE.

The front panel has four separate talk buttons that route the microphone input to either of the four network outputs. The button’s operation can be configured as momentary (PTT), latching (on/off), Glensound’s intelligent mode (short tap on/off, longer hold is momentary), or always on with a press muting (cough). A double tap of any talk button will produce an optional ‘call’ signal alert that will be received by another Beatrice unit. There are four yellow LEDs that indicate an incoming call alert, which will also produce an audio indication on the headphones. There are also four red presence LEDs that indicate a signal is being received.

Each input has a separate rotary pot on the front panel to adjust the headphone level, so each of the four inputs can be quickly set at a different level. The pots are sprung recessed so when not in use they can be pushed into the unit to further reduce the unit dimensions and reduce the chance of any unwanted knocks.

As well as the four switched 4W outputs, there are also four permanent outputs which are a loop of the input. If the user activates the talk switch they will talk over this incoming looped signal. Whether the switch 4W or the IFB is used, it is based on the audio routing channels used in Dante Controller. Outputs 1-4 are the front panel 4W switched outputs, outputs 5-8 are the IFB/party line loops with a switch mic that cuts over them when active.

The side panel has two push buttons that are used for configuration changes directly on the unit. From the unit you can adjust input panning, master headphone volume, sidetone volume, and incoming call volume.

The Beatrice B4+ can be controlled across the network using Glensound’s Windows 10 remote app GlenController. The unit can be monitored with a real time PPM meter, have multiple settings changed, and remotely control the button operation and input gain control. Channel labels can be taken from the Dante network or set separately. GlenController is a free application and is available from Glensound's website.

Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations. The rear also has an RJ45 Neutrik EtherCON for network connection to a PoE switch. This connection can also power the unit and passes audio across a single network cable. There is an internal switch mode power supply on an IEC socket for when PoE is not available.

BEATRICE D8 – Eight Channel, Desktop

Beatrice D8 is an 8-channel, desktop intercom unit in which one single user connected to the unit can listen to and communicate with eight separate locations on the network. Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations.

Audio routing to/from other devices is setup using Dante controller which allows for point to multipoint routing on outgoing circuits, but only one single incoming circuit for each of the eight channels. However, D8 features a 32x32-channel Brooklyn module which gives further channel that have been used for a fixed ratio 14-in/19-out mixer matrix with inputs and outputs connected directly to the Dante/AES67 network which allows for setting up party line and complex group circuits. Beatrice D8 also features eight loop inputs that are directly routed to the outputs for IFB and party line use.

A microphone amplifier, designed for communication purposes is fitted. This also has a compressor/limiter circuit to help keep levels and intelligibility consistent even when the operator gets overly excited. The microphone amplifier has two microphone sources, either the inbuilt front panel mounted electret capsule which provides good voice intelligibility from normal working distances, or a balanced XLR input for connecting external goose neck microphones. Each input has a separate pot for setting the gain level. 12V phantom power is also available and can be turned on/off as required via an internal link.

A large magnet Visatron speaker with ‘excellent voice intelligibility’ is positioned on the top panel making communication straightforward and easy to understand. There is also a 6.35mm jack socket with a switch to choose whether this acts as a speaker break jack or not. A full size pot sets the audio level for the inbuilt speaker or headphones.

Channel input and output gain can be applied to audio signals separately. A row of LEDs indicate the current gain setting when a channel's input or output is being adjusted.

A double tap of any talk button will produce an optional ‘call’ signal alert that will be received by another Beatrice unit. There is a 'present' LED on each channel that will flash to indicate an incoming call alert, which will also produce an audio indication on the headphones. The presence LEDs will also illuminate to indicate a signal is being received, and show the user which channel the call or audio is coming from.

Each channel has an illuminated audio monitor switch. This allows the incoming audio circuit for a particular channel to be routed to the headphones/loudspeakers. Using these switches makes it easy for an operator to just monitor the desired incoming audio channels. There are separate push buttons for a 'speak to all' function, or for talking to a preselected group. A chime button allows the user to set the incoming call level.

An inbuilt wide range switch mode mains power supply is fitted for powering the Beatrice D8. It is terminated with a standard IEC plug. The unit can also be powered via the Ethernet cable by standard PoE (Power over Ethernet) on either of the copper Ethernet ports. The PoE power can be supplied by an external PoE switch or a midspan power injector.

Redundant network circuits can be set up using the primary and secondary Dante network ports. There are 2x copper Ethernet ports on Neutrik Ethercons and also 2x fibre Ethernet ports presented as SFP slots (SFP modules not included). Redundant networks can be set up across any of these ports.

For setting up more complex groups and partyline circuits that could not be achieved via Dante controller or your AES67 router, an inbuilt fixed ratio mixer is supplied. It has fourteen audio inputs direct from the network and nineteen mix outputs to the network. Five of the mixers have inbuilt automatic audio ducking circuits. These are configured purely based on which audio channels are selected in Dante Controller. This makes setting up talk/listen groups in any system very simple.

BEATRICE D8+ - Eight Channel, Desktop with Analogue I/O Interface

Beatrice D8+ has the same feature set as Beatrice D8, however in addition D8+ also has analogue I/O connections on the rear facing panel.

There are 2x 3-pin XLR female sockets that are direct analogue inputs to the Dante/AES67 network, and 2x 3-pin XLR male plug outputs that are direct outputs from the Dante/AES67 network. There is also a 3-pin XLR male output for connecting an external speaker.

As the Beatrice D8+ has local analogue inputs, these can be selected separately by top panel push buttons for monitoring. There is a DB25 male connection containing logic outputs. There is a D15 female socket to accept logic inputs. These provide connections for external switches, for remote control of the talk keys, inputs for cutting the loudspeaker, solid state relay outs activated when speak keys are pressed, or when a call signal is active. Two D8+ or Beatrice R8 units can be linked to share monitoring using two RCA phono plugs.

An inbuilt wide range switch mode mains power supply is fitted for powering the Beatrice D16. It is terminated with a standard IEC plug. The unit can also be powered via the Ethernet cable by standard PoE (Power over Ethernet) on either of the copper Ethernet ports. The PoE power can be supplied by an external PoE switch or a midspan power injector.

Redundant network circuits can be set up using the primary and secondary Dante network ports. There are two copper Ethernet ports on Neutrik Ethercon and also two fibre Ethernet ports presented as SFP slots (SFP modules not included). Redundant networks can be set up across any of these ports.

For setting up more complex groups and party line circuits that could not be achieved via Dante controller or your AES67 router, an inbuilt fixed ratio mixer is supplied. It has fourteen audio inputs direct from the network and nineteen mix outputs to the network. Five of the mixers have inbuilt automatic audio ducking circuits. These are configured purely based on which audio channels are selected in Dante Controller. This makes setting up talk/listen groups in any system very simple.

BEATRICE R4 - Four Channel, Rack Mount

Glensound Beatrice R4 is a four channel rack mount intercom designed for broadcast, theatre and professional audio applications. It was designed to be very easy to use for the operator and simple to set up for the technician. It includes the basic functionality required for small intercom systems and none of the complex installation requirements associated with larger systems.

A ‘clear microphone amplifier’, designed for communication purposes, is fitted which also has the benefit of a compressor/limiter circuit to help keep levels and intelligibility consistent even when the operator gets overly excited. Twelve Volt Phantom power is available and can be turned on/off as required.

The inbuilt headphone amplifier allows either low or high impedance headphones to be used, and automatically adjusts the output level to match the impedance of headphones in use. The headphone amplifier is stereo and sources can be panned to left or right ears as desired. The headphone amplifier can also drive mono earpieces from its stereo output.

The microphone amplifier has two front panel microphone sources, either an inbuilt front panel mounted electret capsule which provides good voice intelligibility from normal working distances, or a 3-pin XLR female socket. A headphone output is available on a 6.35mm jack socket. The user can select from a single bi-directional headset connection, available as either a 4-pin male XLR plug (Beatrice R4/4M) or 5-pin female XLR socket (Beatrice R4/5F). The front panel features a single rotary encoder for adjusting the overall level in the headphones, individual incoming channel level, and the pan position of each input. There is a single push button for each of the four channels. The function of each button can be configured based on the way the user wishes to work: momentary (channel is only active whilst button is held down), latching (a single press locks or unlocks the button), intelligent (short tap locks and a long press is momentary), or always on (holding button mutes the channel like a cough switch). A double tap of any talk button will send a call signal on that channel.

Four yellow LEDs indicate a channel is receiving a call signal - this will also be heard in the headphones, and this allows the user to see which channel is calling. There are also four red presence LEDs which will indicated which channels are receiving a signal.

There is a ‘large magnet’ Visatron speaker positioned on the front facing panel, with ‘excellent voice intelligibility’ to make communication straightforward and easy to understand.

To make setup of the unit intuitive a display is provided on the front panel. This display provides a simple menu system for setting up such items as: Button Configuration Input Type (Mic/ Line), Microphone Gain, Phantom Power On/Off, Sidetone Level (Own voice in own headphones), Partyline/IFB/Loop Through Mode, Mixing/Cutting of Partyline when user speaks. Each channel can therefore be set separately to be in a separate party line mode if required.

Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations. The rear also has an RJ45 Neutrik EtherCON for network connection to a PoE switch. This connection can also power the unit and passes audio across a single network cable. There is an internal switch mode power supply on an IEC socket for when PoE is not available.

BEATRICE R8 - Eight Channel, Rack Mount

Glensound Beatrice R8 is an eight channel rack mount intercom designed for broadcast, theatre and professional audio applications. It has been designed for a single user connected to the unit can listen to and communicate with 8 separate locations on the network. Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations.

Audio routing to/from other devices is setup using Dante controller which allows for point to multipoint routing on outgoing circuits (1 single incoming circuit for each of the 8 channels). R8 has a 32x32 channel Brooklyn module which gives further channels that have been used for a fixed ratio 14 input 19 output mixer matrix with inputs and outputs connected directly to the Dante/AES67 network, allowing for setting up party line and complex group circuits. Five of the mixers have inbuilt automatic audio ducking circuits. This makes setting up talk/listen groups in any system very simple.

A speaker with ‘excellent voice intelligibility‘ is incorporated to make communication straightforward and easy to understand. This speaker is positioned on the front panel. There is also a 6.35mm jack socket that accepts headphones from 30-1000 ohms. A rotary controller sets the audio level for the inbuilt speaker or headphones. Channel Input and output gain can be applied to audio signals separately using the rotary encoder. A row of LEDs indicate the current gain setting when a channel's input or output is being adjusted. A double tap of any talk button will produce an optional ‘call’ signal alert that will be received by another Beatrice unit. There is a 'present' button on each channel that will flash to indicate an incoming call alert, which will also produce an audio indication on the headphones. The present button will also illuminate to indicate a signal is being received, and show the user which channel the call or audio is coming from.

Each channel has an illuminated audio monitor button. This allows the channels’ incoming audio circuit to be routed to the headphones/loudspeakers. Using these switches makes it easy for an operator to just monitor the desired incoming audio channels. There are separate push buttons for a 'speak to all' function, or for talking to a pre-selected group.

There are two ‘local’ analogue inputs on 3-pin XLR female connector and two outputs on 3-pin XLR male connectors positioned on the rear facing panel of the unit. These are routed straight to the Dante/AES67 network. Using the local input front panel buttons in conjunction with the gain adjust encoder allows the input level of the input circuits to be adjusted. There is also an external speaker output on a 3-pin XLR male connector.

There are nine solid state relay outputs. One of these outputs is triggered when any speak key is on (useful for dimming external loudspeakers or red light controls), the other eight are triggered individually when their associated channel receives a call. In total there are twelve loop closure inputs, ten of which control the talk keys (the 8-channels, talk to group and talk to all), and the remaining two provide internal and external LS cuts.

Two Beatrice R8 units can be joined together by using a pair of digital S/PDIF cables. The result of which is a fully featured 2RU 16-channel intercom unit, with groups, mics, speakers and other resources shared between the 2 units.

BEATRICE R16 - Sixteen Channel, Rack Mount

Glensound Beatrice R16 enables one single user connected to the unit to listen to and communicate with sixteen separate locations on the network. Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different locations.

Audio routing to and from other devices is setup using Dante controller which allows for point to multipoint routing on outgoing circuits (but only 1 single incoming circuit for each of the 16 channels). Beatrice R16 does feature a 32x32 channel Brooklyn module which gives further channels that have been used for a fixed ratio 11-input, 11-output mixer matrix with inputs and outputs connected directly to the Dante/AES67 network which allows for setting up party line and complex group circuits. There are also four IFB/AUX inputs available on the matrix that loop the audio directly to the output.

A microphone amplifier, designed for communication purposes, is fitted which also has a compressor/limiter circuit to help keep levels and intelligibility consistent even when the operator gets overly excited. This microphone amp has two microphone sources, either the inbuilt front panel mounted electret capsule which provides good voice intelligibility from normal working distances, or a balanced XLR input for connecting external goose neck microphones. Each input has a separate pot for setting the gain level. 12Volt Phantom power is also available and can be turned on/off as required via an internal link. A large magnet speaker with ‘excellent voice intelligibility’ is used to make communication straightforward and easy to understand. There is also a 6.35mm jack socket for headphones. A full size pot sets the audio level for the inbuilt speaker or headphones. Channel Input and output gain can be applied to audio signals separately using two front panel push buttons and a rotary encoder. A row of LEDs indicate the current gain setting when a channel's input or output is being adjusted. There are separate push buttons for a 'speak to all' function, or for talking to a preselected group.

BEATRICE W1, W4 - Wall Mount Intercom

Glensound Beatrice W1 and W4 are single user interfaces for the Beatrice intercom system. They are designed to mount flush on a wall or into a desk, making a useful intercom position that allows two-way communication to be possible at standing or sitting level.

The front facing panel has four corner mounted holes for flush fitting to walls or desks. Connectivity is on the left side of the unit with a single RJ45 EtherCON for transferring audio and power via PoE.

When mounted, the user only has access to the top panel. This has a built in electret microphone or a 3-pin female XLR for connecting and external gooseneck microphone via the inbuilt microphone amplifier. On the same panel there is a built in speaker for listening to the incoming audio. The front panel also features a single rotary encoder for adjusting the overall level to the speaker and individual incoming channel level. To make setup of the unit intuitive a display is positioned to the left of the rotary encoder. Audio routing to/from other devices is setup using Dante controller which allows for point to multipoint routing on outgoing circuits (but only a single incoming circuit for an incoming channel).

For each talk circuit (one on the Beatrice W1, and four on the Beatrice W4) there is a large illuminated talk key to activate the outgoing audio. A double tap of any talk button will send a call signal on that channel. A red LED indicates incoming audio, and a bright yellow LED indicates if the channel is receiving a call signal.

BEATRICE P1, P2 - Handset

Beatrice P1 is a single channel handset, and the P2 a two channel handset, and both can be included to form part of the Beatrice intercom system. The handset is full size, ‘heavy duty’ and attached to the control system base.

A microphone amplifier designed for communication purposes, is fitted to the output of the handset's microphone capsule, which also has the benefit of a compressor/limiter circuit to help keep levels and intelligibility consistent even when the operator gets overly excited. The gain of the microphone amplifier can be adjusted in the menu system to suit your working environment. A low noise amplifier is fitted to provide the best possible output to the handset's earpiece. On the top/rear panel there is a full size volume pot to adjust the volume of the handset’s earpiece. An RJ45 socket is present for connection to the Dante/AES67 network and this also provides power via PoE. Four LEDs show the submenu section for making system adjustments for the ringer, mic gain and side tone. As well as the volume control adjusting the audio level to the telephone handset’s earpiece, it is possible by using the menu system to adjust the gain of the incoming network audio circuit(s).

A simple call function is inbuilt allowing the operator of one unit to call/alert other users on a Beatrice system. To call another user the operator double taps the speak key of the channel they want to call (Beatrice P2) or the dedicated call key (Beatrice P1). This then flashes a bright yellow call LED on the receivers unit, which continues to flash until the call is answered. As well as flashing an LED at the receiving end of the call, an audible ‘beep’ can be set to alert the user that there is an incoming call. When the Beatrice P1 or Beatrice P2 receives a call, a large red LED will flash to attract the operator's attention. An additional pair of small LEDs are also fitted on the Beatrice P2 to indicate which of the two incoming channels generated the call signal. When the handset is picked up, it is the equivalent of a talk key being pressed on a Beatrice talk channel. When the handset is replaced, the talk key is released. On the Beatrice P2 the user selects which of the two channels to talk out on via the two pushbuttons.

BEATRICE M1 – Bi-directional, Walkie-talkie

Beatrice M1 allows bi-directional connection and remote control between radio walkie-talkies and the Beatrice intercom system. M1 is also compatible with other manufacturer’s equipment using the Dante protocol.

The rear panel features an RJ45 EtherCon connection for connection to the network and to provide power over PoE. For versatility and to allow more than just one person to communicate with the walkie-talkie interface, Beatrice M1 can receive four (see note below on Dante Ultimo chipset) incoming audio circuits. These four audio circuits are mixed together internally and then sent to the attached radio when audio is present. Being a network audio device the audio from the radio to the Beatrice intercom network can easily be routed to multiple network points for monitoring.

A 9-pin D-type connector is used for providing bi-directional audio and trigger connectivity to the attached walkie-talkie. This connector is wired to the same format as legacy products from other manufacturers, making a system upgrade simple. Usefully the wiring of this connector provides both normally open and normally closed relay outputs for triggering the walkie-talkies talk switch, making interfacing to different manufacturers’ radios easy. For extended reliability and to protect the M1's circuits from external radio issues both the audio inputs and outputs to/-from the radio are transformer isolated. RF immunity circuits are used within the Beatrice M1 to prevent as much as possible RF noise caused by the external walkie-talkies/radios.

The activation of the relay for triggering the radio’s speak switch is done on detection of an incoming audio signal from the network. The threshold and hold time of this activation can be set in the menu system. Importantly and uniquely to Beatrice M1 is a small digital delay that is introduced to the audio signal being sent to the walkie-talkie. This prevents the very initial part of a message being missed as the threshold is detected and the radio's talk switch is triggered.

On the side of the M1 are controls to allow correct system setup and practical interfacing to as many different walkie-talkies as possible. Multi-turn preset pots are provided to setup the incoming audio level from the radio and also the outgoing audio level to the radio. Radio PTT dip switches are here to allow compatibility with multi manufacturers PTT systems.

The front panel contains a volume/setup encoder, signal present LED and a LED to show a call is being received.

To allow easy setup Beatrice M1 has a backlit LCD screen on the top panel. This allows such items as incoming audio detect threshold and also hold times to be set. This LCD screen also provides a visual level indication of the audio being received from the radio. To help with setting up the incoming audio level from the radio and matching it to the Dante network an audio meter is displayed on the front of the Beatrice M1's screen. This level meter is after the incoming audio preset gain control making level setup easy.

BEATRICE LH4 – Indication Light

Beatrice LH4 is a PoE powered indicator unit that provides 360-degrees of visual indication when audio or call signals are present on up to 4 different Dante/AES67 channels. LH4 is designed to provide cue/on air indication to presenters and hosts using the standard Dante/AES67 network. The bright ‘lighthouse style’ LED tower can be set to illuminate on receipt of either an audio signal present or a Beatrice 20kHz call signal, from any of its four network audio inputs. Different colours and brightness level can be set by the user using a front panel mounted rotary encoded and menu driven screen. These can also be associated with different channels for signal present and call.

To make it easy to send audible instructions to the users an internal speaker is also included that through the configuration menu can be set to pass audio from the Dante/AES67 network if required. The four incoming audio circuits are mixed together and sent to a balanced analogue output on a 3-pin male XLR connection on the rear of the unit. The result of which enables the LH4 to be used as a Dante/AES67 to analogue converter or mixer, albeit this output is more likely be used for sending monitoring audio to the users. A DC loop output (GPO) is fed from an internal open collector to rear panel 5.08mm pitch terminal block connectors. It becomes active when a call is received on any of the four channels.

LH4 uses Audinate’s Ultimo Chipset which can receive four incoming audio channels, each at 48kHz. However, this chipset can only receive these four audio channels from a maximum of two network locations (two different devices). This is common with any manufacturer that uses this chipset.
