GLENSOUND HEADPHONE AMPLIFIERS

A range of headphone amplifiers with and without Dante audio input, from Glensound. Designed for use in studio or broadcast, this range includes headphone amplifiers can be portable, desk or permanently wall mounted.

VIRGIL Series - Dante

GS-HA Series

SIGNATURE HA+ Series

Glensound HA+ series of headphone amplifiers have been designed and manufactured to broadcast specification, and to operate in a mono or a stereo mode. They have a 1U, 19-inch rackmount chassis however the rack frame can also be removed allowing desktop or under-desk mounting.

Ordering note: Glensound suggest that the below headphone amplifiers 'may be delivered with a black finish'.

HA1+ - 1 amplifier

Glensound HA1+ has two 3-pin XLR inputs that are used as the primary programme audio input. This can be stereo, or, if mono, can be switched to appear on both sides of the headphone outputs. There are left and right programme input gain controls on the front panel, and they are on recessed screw terminals to prevent accidental tamper. There is also a secondary, mono cue input with a connection via one of 3-pin XLR sockets on the rear panel. HA1+ uses Glensound’s proprietary CAN headphone system to allow multi-impedance headphones to be used, between 32-1000 Ohm, with the same perceptual level in the headphones when the volume control is kept in a fixed position. Stereo or mono connections can also be made to the headphone sockets, including mono earpieces. The headphone output is available via a front panel 6.35mm headphone socket, and in parallel on a rear panel 3-pin XLR connection.

A remote connection available via an RJ45 or a 9-pin D-type connection to allow the user to remotely adjust level control, the disabling of front panel control, and further left/right signal outputs. Rear panel inputs and outputs are electronically balanced on 3-pin XLR connections, however unbalanced connections are also accommodated. Power is provided by an internal switch mode power supply, with a wide input range. There is also an input for external 12V DC power. The 12V DC input can be connected to the optional Signature PS1 external DC Master Power Station, for situations where a redundant power supply is desirable. A bright front panel LED indicates that the unit is operational.

Maximum input level: +28dBu. Input impedance: Greater than 30k. Programme input type: Electronically balanced, can be wired unbalanced. Programme input circuit: Stereo or mono, via rear panel switch. Programme input connectors: 2x 3-pin XLR sockets. Cue input type: Electronically balanced, can be wired unbalanced. Cue input circuit: Mono. Cue input connector: A gauge 6.35mm jack socket. Coarse gain range: +/-10dB, on programme input only. Volume pots range: 75dB, -65dB to +10dB. Source control range: 70dB, -70dB to 0dBu. Frequency response: -0.7dB 20Hz, -0.5dB 20kHz. Maximum output level: +17dBu/67.50mW into 600ohms and +4dBu/2.49mW into 32ohms. Distortion: Less than 0.01% THD at 100Hz, 0.007% at 10kHz, reference to +8dBu output. Noise: Greater than -79.0dB at line up, unweighted RMS (22Hz to 22kHz). Headphone impedance: 32-1000ohms. Mains input: Filtered IEC, 100-240VAC, 47-63Hz. AC consumption: 1.5 Watts at 230VAC. Internal mains fuse: 20mm, 500mA Anti Surge. DC input: 4-Pin XLR plug, +/-12V. DC consumption: +12V=50mA, -12V=45mA. Dimensions (WxDxH): 336 x 123 x 44mm, without rack ears; 482 x 123 x 44mm, with rack ears. Weight: 0.94kg

HA2+ - 2 amplifiers

Glensound HA2+ is virtually the same as HA1+ with the exception of the incorporation of two amplifiers and therefore offering two headphone outputs with corresponding control. The other main difference is the cue inputs, where on the HA2+ there are 3x 6.35mm jack sockets to connect HP1 only, HP2 only, and both. There is no remote connection available on the HA2+.

Maximum input level: +24dBu. Input impedance: 30k. Programme input type: Electronically balanced, can be wired unbalanced. Programme input circuit: Stereo or mono, via rear panel switch. Programme input connectors: 2x 3-pin XLR sockets. Cue input type: Electronically balanced, can be wired unbalanced. Cue input circuit: Mono. Cue input connector: A gauge 6.35mm jack socket. Coarse gain range: +/-10dB, on programme input only. Volume pots range: 75dB, -65dB to +10dB. Source control range: 70dB, -70dB to 0dBu. Frequency response: -1.7dB 20Hz, -0.5dB 20kHz. Maximum output level: +19dBu/67.07mW into 600ohms and +8dBu/6.2mW into 32ohms. Distortion: Less than 0.01% THD at 100Hz, 0.007% at 10kHz, reference to +8dBu output. Noise: Greater than -83.3dB at line up, unweighted RMS (22Hz to 22kHz). Headphone impedance: 32-1000ohms. Mains input: Filtered IEC, 100-240VAC, 47-63Hz. AC consumption: 2.2 Watts at 230VAC. HA6+ - 6 amplifiers

Glensound HA6+ has the same functionality and connection types of the HA1+, however it incorporates six headphone amplifiers and therefore six outputs. Cue input is replaced with left and right auxiliary inputs on 3-pin XLR connectors. These auxiliary inputs can be stereo, or, if a mono input, can be switched to appear on both sides of the headphones.

Maximum input level: +24dBu. Input impedance: 30k. Programme input type: Electronically balanced, can be wired unbalanced. Programme input circuit: Stereo or mono, via rear panel switch.
