A flush, table-top mounting design, the AT8657/LED microphone socket provides a means of mounting any 21mm diameter, phantom powered gooseneck or button-style boundary microphone with a 3-pin male XLR output in a variety of environments. An integral red/green LED ring may be controlled from a logic-enabled device; the LED and circuitry are powered by the microphones phantom power, eliminating the need for an additional power source.
The sockets logic out capability permits control of remote devices from a touch-sensitive switch, so users can trigger an external device, such as a camera or light, with the touch of a button. The socket has a lock tab on the input connector that automatically locks the microphone in place upon insertion, holding it securely until switch is manually released by a user. The adapter is supplied with a pair of rubber isolation rings and a metal retainer ring, for use with gooseneck microphones only, to dampen surface vibrations.
Phantom power at 24-48V DC is required for operation. The electronics in the socket take up to 30 seconds to stabilise after power is applied. Switch logic output is high (+5V DC) when pressed. low (0V DC) when not pressed. The LED indicator ring lights red when logic high (+5V DC) and green when logic low (0V DC). The connection t the socket is a 5-pin, male, XLR connector. The socket is enclosed in a heavy-duty, die-cast case. The low-profile housing has a low-reflectance black finish.
