These kits are used to make-up custom adapters between the increasingly popular RJ45 modular connector and the ubiquitous D-sub types, without soldering or crimp tooling. Clearly useful in networking applications, particularly, say, when using structured wiring to carry serial data from the D-sub connectors on terminal equipment, the system also makes it possible to use the low-cost standard ready-made RJ45 patch-leads and accessories to connect and patch all manner of logic signals to and from equipment fitted with D-sub connectors, all without soldering!
Each adapter has an integral RJ45 8-way jack socket with pre terminated leads, ready for field termination to male or female 9-way D connectors. Assembled D connectors snap fit into the adaptor covers, which are available in various colours, to aid recognition of differently wired units. Screened versions, with metallised plastic covers, are also available.
The adapters are supplied with finger jack-screws; the RJ45 wire colour coding complies with AT&T USOC requirements. For RJ45 patchcords see etherCON, Tourcon and RJ45 data cable assemblies.
