This range of boxes with integral rack-strips, punched in 1U increments, is suitable for wall mounting, fitting under workstations or virtually anywhere where connection panels or rack-mounting equipment needs to be located. They are constructed from 1.5mm steel in 2U, 3U, 4U, 6U, 8U, 12U and 20U heights and two depths in full-rack and half-rack widths.
The rear of the boxes are punched with circular or rectangular cable-access holes of an appropriate size for the bulk of cable likely to be terminated. Additional fixing holes are located around the perimeter of the rear face for attachment to walls or vertical surfaces. Alternatively, users may drill the outer faces as required to mount the unit under workstations, on ceilings or on other surfaces. See application note. Alternative cable entry apertures in the sides, top or bottom may be cut by the user or pre punched at the factory to special order, minimum order quantities may apply.
The Rackbox depths have been determined to minimise the space required to site the box while still allowing sufficient internal space for safe routing of SD, unbalanced AES and HD coax and triax cables and fibre. Most audio, data and video cable are easily accommodated in the 100mm deep type. Panels with most connectors are accomodated, including the Neutrik back-to-back USB and Firewire styles. The 205mm deep type should be used for larger diameter cables.
An internal earth stud is fitted to all types. Finished in dawn grey, dark grey and black.
Full Rack Width, 100mm deep, types
The minimum bend radii of Canford SDV video cable and similar types of up to approximately 5mm diameter are catered for within the 100mm type. Any Canford flat or angled termination or 'Universal' panel, except 'tailgate and wallbox' types, may be fitted. Lacing bars must however be removed from panels by simply unscrewing the Torx-head screws concealed behind the panel designation strips. Overall external depth 110mm.
Full Rack Width, 205mm deep, types
Larger cables such as 8mm or 11mm triax and SMPTE 311M fibre can be installed safely within the 205mm size. Full rack-width Rackboxes will accommodate any Canford termination panel, complete with lacing bars, including angled tailgate and wallbox termination panels fitted with triax, SMPTE 311M fibre, MIL26, Tourline 25 or similar connectors. Overall external depth 215mm.
Half Rack Width, 100mm deep, types
The half-rack width, 100mm deep Rackboxes are suitable for use with 'Canford Universal Connection Panels - Half Rack Width'. These panels will accommodate almost any combination of connectors compatible with the Neutrik 'D' series mounting cut-out including the many styles found in the 'Canford Universal Series Connector' range and the Switchcraft 'EH' D-sub range. The majority of 'D' flange connectors may be mounted from the rear of the panel giving a tidy appearance to the wall box. Overall external depth 110mm.
Half Rack Width, 205mm deep, types
Similar to the Full Rack Width, 205mm deep, types but with a 205mm depth to accommodate those connectors that require more space at the rear. Overall external depth 215mm.
Application Note
It is recommended that where heavy equipment is fitted in the Rackbox, particularly in the 205mm deep type, the unit is mounted using screws or bolts with large diameter heads or washers in all possible locations, to spread the load around the fixing holes.
