Analogue and AES audio
The HG8/1 is an eight-input passive, balanced, stereo source-selector, housed in a 1U rackmount enclosure. A non-shorting “break-before-make” eight-position rotary switch selects the input. Eight LEDs identify the selected channel number, and designation-strips are provided for user identification of the sources. Templates for printing designation strip labels, available as a DWG file for AutoCAD and compatible applications, can be downloaded from the appropriate product page on the Canford website.
Input connection is by eight pairs of XLR 3-pin female connectors; output is a pair of XLR 3-pin male types. A 2.1mm socket provides DC power, which serves only to illuminate the LEDs. A suitable plug-in power supply is included.
Because of the passive nature of the unit, it can be used backwards (as a destination selector) equally well. Suitable for both analogue and digital audio. The ultimate! What more could you desire in life?
