DENON MEDIA PLAYERS - With Blu-Ray

The Denon DN-500BDMKII is a 1U, rack-mounting, Blu-ray disc player intended for installation in corporate AV systems, education, houses of worship, larger home cinema applications and theatres.

The front loading disc drive is compatible with 'virtually every Blu-ray, DVD and audio CD format' available. Supported formats include BD25, BD50, BD-RE, DVD, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and audio CD formats including CD-R, CD-RW, DTS Music Disc, and HDCD.

In addition to the disc drive, the DN-500BDMKII has a front loading SD card slot for direct access to audio and picture files stored on external media. Compatible formats include AVI, MOV, MP4, MP3, WAV, FLAC, GIF, JPEG, and PNG.

A rear-mounted LAN port enables internet connection for access to BD-Live content. BD-Live is a feature of Blu-ray discs providing access to movie trailers, automatic firmware updates, 'featurettes', and games.

Content stored on solid-state media can be accessed via two USB sockets. One is conveniently located at the front of the DN-500BDMKII. The second is on the back panel which may help deter unauthorised content removal.

A simple menu structure and minimal transport control buttons ensure intuitive operation.

An easy to read OLED display gives information including track position (time), input type and more. If desired, on screen display (OSD) prompts and status reports can be hidden from the viewer. It is possible to lock the front panel and infra-red (IR) remote control to prevent unwanted or accidental system operation. LEDs indicate the lock and OSD status.

Balanced (R/L) audio is available via 3-pin male XLRs and unbalanced audio output via RCA (phono) sockets. The DN-500BDMKII also provides discrete 7.1 channel analogue outputs via RCA sockets, for onward connection to an AV receiver, amplifier or powered loudspeakers. Digital audio output is via coaxial RCA socket. A HDMI socket completes the AV output from the Blu-ray player.

The DN-500BDMKII can be remotely controlled via a 9-pin RS-232C socket.
