VP88 Condenser Microphone

The Shure Model VP88 is a single-point, stereo condenser microphone for use in professional studio recording, field production, electronic news gathering (ENG), and studio broadcasting applications. It combines two condenser cartridges in a single housing to create a stereo audio image of the sound source. It is unique in its ability to capture the realism of a live event and yet withstand rigorous field production environments.

  • VP88 - Includes "Y-splitter" cable, foam windscreen, stand adapter, 6V battery and zippered storage bag. Phantom power or included battery required

Features

The VP88 uses a mid-side (M-S) configuration. One microphone cartridge (Mid) faces forward to capture on-axis sound using a cardioid pickup pattern. The other microphone cartridge (Side) is bi-directional, capturing sound from either side. The VP88 contains an internal M-S matrix with three settings for different degrees of stereo image seperation. The internal matrix can be bypassed if an external matrix is used or if stereo imaging is done in post-production. Switches on the top of the microphone control output mode, stereo imaging, low-frequency rolloff settings, and battery on/off.

  • Time-coherent, Mid-Side (M-S) design for optimal stereo imaging
  • Built-in stereo matrix for direct control of the stereo spread; direct M-S outputs available
  • Mono compatibility ideal for broadcast applications
  • 40 to 20,000 Hz frequency response
  • Low noise and distortion
  • Wide dynamic range
  • Switch-selectable, low-frequency rolloff (12 dB/octave below 80 Hz) for reduced pickup of ambient noise & stand vibration
  • Operates on phantom power or a 6V camera battery
  • LED power indicator
  • Internal shock mount for reduced stand vibration and handling noise
  • Built-in "pop" screen
  • Includes windscreen, swivel adapter, and Y-cable

SHURE MICROPHONES - Shotgun and Stereo

A selection of stereo and shotgun microphones from Shure, designed to be used in the field, film production, or ENG.

VP88 - Stereo

VP88 is a single-point, stereo condenser microphone for use in professional studio recording, field production, electronic news gathering (ENG), and studio broadcasting applications. The microphone uses a mid-side (M-S) configuration with one microphone cartridge (Mid) facing forward to capture on-axis sound using a cardioid pickup pattern; and the other cartridge (Side) is bi-directional, capturing sound from either side.

VP88 contains an internal M-S matrix with three settings for different degrees of stereo image separation. The internal matrix can be bypassed if an external matrix is used or if stereo imaging is done in post-production. Switches on the top of the microphone control output mode, stereo imaging, low-frequency roll-off settings, and battery on/off. The mic can operate on phantom power or an internal 6V battery. The optional A88SM Shock Mount provides optimum isolation from stand-transmitted shock and vibration.

Included accessories: 1x battery, 1x carrying bag, 1x foam windscreen, 1x swivel adapter, 1x 0.76m Y-splitter cable.

Frequency response: 40Hz - 20kHz. Polar pattern: Cardioid, mid cartridge; bidirectional, side cartridge. Maximum SPL: 129dB, 800ohm; 119dB, 150ohm. Dynamic range: 105dB. Power requirements: 9-52V DC phantom power. Weight: 417g.

VP82 - Shotgun, short

VP82 is a professional electret condenser shotgun microphone for use in A/V sound reinforcement. The short shotgun microphone offers a compact and lightweight recording option for near-field sound sources. A wide aperture and 'excellent' off-axis rejection, VP82 is an affordable choice for camera-mounted broadcast and media production applications. The microphone includes a foam windscreen, and is compatibility with VP89S accessories.

Included accessories: 1x zippered carrying bag, 1x foam windscreen, 1x 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch thread adapter, 1x microphone clip.

Frequency response: 90Hz - 20kHz. Polar pattern: Supercardioid/lobar. Maximum SPL: 137.5dB, 2500ohm; 131.5dB, 1000ohm. Dynamic range: 122.5dB, 2500ohm; 116.5dB, 1000ohm. Power requirements: 11-52V DC phantom power. Weight: 76g.

VP89 - Shotgun, short/medium/long

Available in three length versions, VP89 is a modular shotgun microphone that offers 'superior' preamplifier design with RF immunity. It has been designed for the pick-up of audience response, talk shows, and concerts. The microphones features a two-position low-cut filter switch that allows the user select normal (natural) response or low-frequency rolloff to give a 12dB per-octave rolloff at 200Hz to reduce floor rumble. As a modular microphone, the user is able to detach the capsule and replace with a longer or shorter barrel (RPM89L/RPM89M/RPM89S).
