A selection of RTW software licences that when added to RTW TouchMonitor hardware afford the user additional feature sets of their equipment.
Ordering notes: If ordering software licence at time of ordering TouchMonitor hardware, the software will be installed at factory. When a licence is needed at a later point in time, the order process is started from the “Licences” menu of the hardware unit. A device-specific file for forwarding to Canford is created by the unit. Canford will give back a corresponding file with the activated licence for exactly this unit. Please read the attached documentation if adding a software licence after receiving the hardware.
MULTI-CHANNEL (SW20001) Multi-channel operation
Multichannel Mode licence expands the basic PPM and TruePeak meter to up to 8-channels in a group processing mono, stereo, 3.1 surround, 5.0 surround, 5.1 surround, 7.1 surround (Cinema and DD+), and to multi-channel for 2-8 channels in one block, and up to 4 blocks with AoIP or 3G SDI. Multiple channels or channel groups can be displayed simultaneously. The Gain Reduction instrument also gets the Multi-Channel mode. Like in the basic software, analogue and digital scales, peak hold, peak memory, over indicator and numerical display are available. Loudness bar graphs can be switched with the Loudness licence (SW20002).
Requirements: TM7/TM9 TouchMonitor.
Loudness and SPL Display licence expands the basic 4-channel PPM with graphical and numerical instruments for Loudness measurements as described in current guidelines (EBU R128, ITU-R BS.1770-4/1771-1, ATSC A/85, ARIB, OP-59, AGCOM, CALM, LEQ(M), TASA, SAWA), and the LRA instrument for the graphical display of the loudness range. A customer-specific mode allows the user to modify parameters.
In addition, the licence provides the SPL display mode with various weighting filters and integration times as well as reference level adjust to calculate an SPL value from an electrical signal. Dialnorm values can be measured with activated Multi-Channel licence (SW20001). If, in addition the TCR licence (SW20008) is activated, the ability to execute timecode-based loudness measurements and loudness recalculation.
Requirements: TM7/TMR7/TM9 TouchMonitor. Optional on TM7 or TM9 software licence SW20001: Multi-Channel Mode for the display of more than 4 channels and Dialnorm.
RTA (SW20003) Real time analyser
Like the human ear senses an audio signal, the RTA (Real Time Analyser) displays the spectral content of the selected input channel(s) using 31x filter bands in 1/3 octave steps, 61x filter bands in 1/6 octave steps or 120x filter bands in 1/12 octave steps. Similar to an oscilloscope, it measures the magnitude of an input signal versus frequency within the full frequency range of the instrument.
The normal frequency range reaches from 20Hz to 20KHz and equals the typical range a human ear can detect. An optional "H" band shows spectral signal components above 20 kHz. Alternatively, the low frequency range (LF - 5Hz to 5kHz) can be switched. This frequency span providing a higher resolution covers almost all parts of the human speech. The human ear perceives different frequencies with the same acoustic pressure not as identically loud. For this reason different standardized weighting filters can be selected. The display’s reference point and resolution can be shifted for a clearer readout in the window. The RTA’s layer display is always relative.
Requirements: TM7/TMR7/TM9 TouchMonitor. Optional on TM7 or TM9 software licence SW20001: Multi-Channel Mode for the use of more than 4 channels.
SSA (SW20004) Surround sound analyser
Unique to the TouchMonitor, the Surround Sound Analyser is a 'pioneering and unique' visualisation tool showing the relevant technical and subjective parameters of surround signals in a fast and intuitive way. This licence offers a comprehensive, yet compact overview of multichannel audio signals up to 7.1, perceived acoustic focal point, and phase correlation and LFE phase warning. The surround sound analyser displays a correctly-scaled graphical representation of the relative volumes in the surround sound field. The interaction of levels (volume, sound pressure level, or loudness) and the correlation of all channels in the overall surround sound is displayed graphically, providing a very clear overview. The graphical display has been carefully designed so that the dynamic behaviour of all display elements corresponds to the subjective listening impression, showing the balance of the surround program intuitively and at a glance.
Requirements: TM7/TM9 TouchMonitor, SW20001 Multi-Channel licence, SW20002 Loudness licence.
Radar instrument, developed by TC Electronic, is a high-resolution display of momentary loudness and loudness history in a single, unique Radar view. The circular, colour-coded display makes it easy to balance audio visually and to see when level falls below or exceeds the end-listener's loudness range tolerance. The moving outer ring of the instrument represents the Momentary loudness value changing its colour when passing the Target Level. The area inside of this ring showing concentric circles is called Radar view and represents the Short-term loudness history (1 minute to 24 hours). The thicker circle represents the Target Level, its outer part shows exceedings, the inner part shortfalls. The radar is complemented by a true-peak warning and by two descriptors to characterize the entire loudness ‘landscape’ of a program, film or music track precisely. By default, the numbers displayed are program loudness and loudness range.
Requirements: TM7/TM9 TouchMonitor, SW20002 Loudness licence.
Premium PPM and Vectorscope licence expands the Basic 4-channel PPM (standard software) with additional scales (Zoom, SMPTE, NHK, ARD+9, et al.), additional display modes (segment, classic), and PPM/VU moving coil instruments with different scales and functions. It also provides up to 4x 2-channel audio vectorscopes and a separate phase meter. With Multi-Channel Mode licence (SW20001) installed, the Multichannel PPM is also extended with the functions of the Premium PPM. Then, the Multi-Correlator with up to 10 phase meters is available.
Requirements: TM7/TMR7/TM9 TouchMonitor. Optional on TM7 or TM9 software licence SW20001: Multi-Channel Mode for the use of Multicorrelator.
Timecode Reader licence provides the Timecode function as a separate mode generating an individual audio group providing the Timecode Reader instrument. It is used to decode and to display an SDI-embedded or LTC timecode using the 3G-SDI interface (if installed) or one of the selectable audio inputs. With the activated Loudness and SPL Display licence (SW20002), it can be used with loudness and Logging applications.
Requirements: TM7/TMR7/TM9 TouchMonitor. Optional on TM7 or TM9 software licence SW20002: Loudness and SPL Display for the use of recalculation.
BLITS (Black & Lane's Ident Tones for Surround) is a tool to allow testing for channel allocation, level and phase of 5.1 surround signals. Developed by Martin Black and Keith Lane from Sky TV in London in 2004, this sequence is widely used in international broadcasting.
BLITS/GLITS instrument is used for analysing of BLITS (Black & Lane's Ident Tones for Surround) signals and for generating BLITS and stereo ident signals (EBU-3304, GLITS). The analyser for the BLITS test tone sequence allows a user friendly and comprehensive analysis and display of level, channel allocation, phase, delay and polarity of incoming digital audio signals in 5.1 mode.
Requirements: TM7/TM9 TouchMonitor, SW20001 Multi-Channel Mode licence.
Logging Data Server licence expands the feature set of your TouchMonitor with the Logging and Chart instruments (Loudness and SPL Display licence (SW20002) required). The Logging instrument collects data of loudness and true peak measurements of up to two audio groups of a preset and allows you to store it on a USB flash drive or to send it via IP connection to the free LQL - Loudness Quality Logger PC software for analysing. The loudness Chart instrument is used for displaying and analysing loudness measurement over time directly on TouchMonitors display. If the Timecode Reader licence (SW20008) is enabled, loudness measurements can also be controlled via timecode, including the option of having it recalculated in case the same time span is measured repeatedly.
Requirements: TM7/TMR7/TM9 TouchMonitor, SW20002 Loudness and SPL Display. Optional software licence SW20008 Timecode Reader for timecode-based loudness measurements and recalculation
ISA (SW20015) Immersive sound analyser
ISA (Immersive Sound Analyser) licence combines the features of two surround sound analysers and visualizes the relationship between the instruments so all relevant technical and subjective parameters of formats like 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2 or 7.1.4 evaluated in a fast and intuitive way. ISA also allows overall loudness measurement across audio groups. Main components of these formats are the two layers called Main Bed and Upper Bed. The Main Bed includes the 5.1 or 7.1 part of the surround format, the Upper Bed the 2.0 or 4.0 part. On the ISA, the beds are represented by overlaying displays each similar to a Surround Sound Analyser. A variable moving point gives response about the loudness relationship between the beds resp. the position and height of the dominant signal and the subjective perceived spatial focal point. Additionally, the overall loudness across the layers can be measured and displayed.
Requirements: TM7/TM9 TouchMonitor, SW20001 Multi-Channel Mode licence, SW20002 Loudness and SPL Display licence, SW20004 SSA (Surround Sound Analyser) licence.
