PANAMIC CATHEDRAL MICROPHONE STANDS

Usually known as ‘cathedral’ microphone stands, these are exceptionally high stands designed for minimum visual impact. The telescopic stem section is based on the established Panamic maxi series carbon-fibre boom pole, with a cast iron circular base. The base is finished in a hard-wearing, black textured paint. This design combination provides a stable stand that can easily be erected single-handed.

The stem is three-section and telescopes to only 1.53 metres for transport and storage. It uses the same knurled locking rings with nylon bushes, titanium threaded tip, and carbon-fibre tube sections as the Panamic boom poles (apart from the bottom section, which has a steel threaded section at the base), so in the event of accidental damage, spare parts can be fitted by the user.

This type of stand is usually deployed in areas of high audience visibility and often ‘on camera’, so care has been taken to minimise the visual impact. The carbon fibre stem has a low-reflection black finish, and the base has the minimum possible diameter to enable placement within an orchestra if required. Because of the innovative use of low mass carbon-fibre tube for the stem, the base can be considerably lighter than was the case with the historic designs of cathedral stands.

The stem section screws into the 445mm diameter base, which has three inset rubber feet. The ratio of size/weight of the base to the length/mass of the tube has been carefully designed and tested to ensure minimal risk of toppling, even when loaded with a relatively heavy microphone. But as always in such temporary installations, users should position the stand and associated cabling sensibly and to ensure that all threaded parts are appropriately tightened.

Weight: 7.8kg.

Included accessories: The stand is supplied in two parts, with the stem separate, and base in a protective bag.
Optional accessories: Spare base protective bags are also available. A maintenance kit is also available to assist in the upkeep of Panamic poles. It consists of two allen keys, a 15ml bottle of silicon fluid, a pack of lithium grease and a guide on how to maintain your Panamic product.
