The Senter ST816 pen-sized, visual, fault locator (VFL) is a robust, economy tool for checking the integrity of fibre-optic links. Used to identify break points in a fibre cable, or to check integrity of field-terminated connectors and splices, the VFL sends a visible, 650nm wavelength, red light of 5mW, through the fibre-optic cable. Refraction of this light, caused by breaks, over bending or cracks in the fibre, will glow red, thus giving an exact visual location of the fault in the fibre.
Fitted with a standard universal 2.5mm adapter for ST, SC, FC and other 2.5mm ferrule connectors. A soft carrying case is also supplied. The light has two modes, continuous and flash, operated by a recessed power switch at the bottom, to prevent inadvertent switching on when stored in its soft case. The unit requires 1x AAA battery (not supplied).
