A selection of Joby Wavo compact condenser microphones, intended for use by videographers, and suited for use with mirrorless or DSLR cameras. These on-camera microphones are directional, with super-cardioid pattern, and can be attached to the camera via the fitted cold shoe adapter.
Joby Wavo Plus is a super-cardioid condenser, on-camera microphone with features including live audio monitoring, high pass filter, safety track channel, and auto-power functionality. It has been manufactured from ABS plastic and designed for those wanting to add semi-professional quality audio to their video recordings.
The microphone has a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a switchable high pass filter set to 100Hz to reduce background rumble noises. The switch for setting the high pass filter on/off is positioned on the right facing side of the microphone, under a second button that allows a safety track recording of -10dB. Normal operation is dual mono mode, however when the safe track mode is engaged a -10dB output is sent to the right hand output whilst retaining the pre set level on the left channel. This is useful when incoming audio may cause intermittent clipping. Audio output is via 3.5mm audio jack connector or USB type-C for connection to compatible Windows or Mac computer.
A switch on left facing side of the microphone allows gain selection, with a choice of -10dB, 0dB, or +15dB. A 3.5mm headphone output jack is also positioned on the left side, with a 5-stage dedicated headphone volume control coloured red and positioned on the rear of the microphone. A power button is positioned on the upper rear of the microphone, with a default to automatic power on in accordance to the behaviour of the connected camera. This is particularly useful in preserving the 30hr battery life of the internal Lithium-ion battery cell - which has a charging time of 2hrs. A front facing LED gives constant feedback of the battery level.
Included accessories: Foam windshield, 1x 1.5m USB Type-C to Type-C cable, 1x 1.5m USB Type-C to Type-A cable, 1x 3.5mm TRS jack to TRS jack cable, 1x 3.5mm TRS jack to TRRS jack cable, 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch adapter.
Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz, +/-3dB. Sensitivity: -16mV/Pa, +/-3dB. Signal to noise ratio: 75dBA. Maximum SPL: 130dB. High pass filter: 100Hz. Output impedance: 10ohms. Battery life: 30hours. Dimensions (HxWxL): 112 x 115 58mm. Weight: 75g.
An on-camera microphone with electret condenser capsule, super-cardioid pickup pattern and frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. An internal lithium-ion battery cell offers up to 60hrs of use and can be recharged using the included USB-C to USB-A cable - with USB-C being the connector on the microphone base, positioned on the rear of the right side panel. Audio output is via a 3.5mm TRS connector on the left side panel of the microphone base. A gain selecting button, allowing the choice of 0dB, +10dB, or +20dB, is positioned next to the audio output.
Various LEDs positioned around the microphone allow the user to quickly see the microphone's operating status, including microphone metering level and two battery status LEDs - one positioned within the power button on the rear facing panel, and another on the front facing edge. These power status LEDs will illuminate green when the battery is between 11% and 100% charge; flash with a 1-second interval when between 5% and 10% charge (approximately 4-6hrs left); and flash with a 0.5-second interval when the battery has less than 5% remaining. A 30-minute charge gives 8hours use in normal mode. The microphone metering level LED illuminates green when the audio is under 0dB, or red when 0dB is reached. Normal operation is dual mono mode, however a safe track mode, selectable via the uppermost button on the rear facing panel, allows the user to set a -10dB to the right hand output whilst retaining the pre set level on the left channel. This is useful when incoming audio may cause intermittent clipping.
A low cut filter switch has a pre set frequency of 100Hz. When employed, this can alleviate unwanted rumble and low frequency thump noises.
Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz, +/-3dB. Sensitivity: 19mV/Pa or -34.4dB/Pa, +/-3dB. Signal to noise ratio: 96-100dBA. Maximum SPL: 115dB; 118dB, peak. Self noise: -76dBA. High pass filter: 100Hz. Output impedance: less than 470ohms. Battery life: 60hours. Dimensions (HxWxL): 135 x 52 x 115mm. Weight: 161g.
This on-camera microphone has an electret condenser capsule, super-cardioid pickup pattern, a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, and automatic noise reduction mode. An internal lithium-ion battery cell offers up to 60hrs of use, or 50hrs of use with ANR (automatic noise reduction) employed. The battery can be recharged using the included USB-C to USB-A cable - with USB-C being the connector on the microphone base, positioned on the rear of the right side panel. Audio output is via a 3.5mm TRS connector on the left side panel of the microphone base. A gain selecting button, allowing the choice of 0dB, +10dB, or +20dB, is positioned next to the audio output. An external microphone terminating in 3.5mm jack connector can be plugged into the Wavo Pro microphone to be used as a secondary microphone, such as lavalier microphone for the interviewer. This also has a gain selection of 0/+10/+20dB via dedicated button. When the secondary microphone input is used, the audio can be output via the right audio channel, with the Wavo Pro audio remaining on the left output channel. This is 'Split' mode. In mono mode, both microphones are summed to both output channels. A safe track mode, selectable via the uppermost button on the rear facing panel, allows the user to set a -10dB to the right hand output whilst retaining the pre set level on the left channel. This is useful when incoming audio may cause intermittent clipping.
The microphone has Bluetooth technology that allows the wireless connection of a smartphone using the Joby Wavo PRO app. Once connected, the operator can adjust setting including graphic equalization, automatic power function, and active noise reduction.
