This range of robust cable-drums all have steel drums, with steel tube frames incorporating two carrying handles. All have a friction drum-brake incorporated into the frame to prevent movement in transit. The drums are available with two different styles of side flange - plain or with cable tail supports. The core of the drum is formed from a number of steel bars welded between the flanges.
‘Plain’ types have a solid steel flange. ‘Cable tail’ types have an open hub plus four brackets on the flange face to enable the cable tail to be brought out from the hub of the drum at a gentle angle (important for coaxial and essential for fibre cables) and coiled and secured around the brackets.
Note that this series of drums are not stackable. For stackable high capacity drums, see Canford cable drums - Steel drum, high capacity, stackable.
Trolleys are available for this series of drums - see Canford cable drum trolleys.

Ordering Note
All figures given are based upon a theoretical ‘tight pack’ and do not take into account any maximum weight loadings for drums being exceeded. It is recommended that an allowance of up to 30% be made to accommodate loose winding. A lower percentage could be used if the crew are known to always wind the drums neatly!
