Battery powered headphone amplifiers with three outputs, for use in the field or the studio. The input may be from a single headphone output or a line level source.
HX-3 Portable Headphone Amplifier
The compact HX-3 provides three, high-performance, stereo headphone feeds, with individual level controls, from line-level sources, and can produce very high headphone levels with extremely low noise and distortion. It accepts balanced XLR line-level inputs or stereo-wired unbalanced 3-pole 6.35mm and 3.5mm jack inputs. Its 6.35mm jack loop-output can connect multiple HX-3’s for additional headphone outputs. Headphones are connected to panel-mounted 6.35mm stereo jack connectors, with one output also having a 3.5mm stereo jack.
Front (top when shoulder-mounted) panel controls comprise three rotary level controls plus peak clip onset indicators, mono/stereo monitoring mode switch, internal/external power selector and a power LED that also gives low power warning.
The HX-3 has a durable aluminum chassis to withstand the demands of field and studio environments, with belt loop fixings. The unit is powered by two AA size batteries (nominal life approximately 10 hours) or external 5V-18V DC (screw-locking 2.1mm coaxial type connector).
The HX-3 can add headphone outputs to the Sound Devices 442, 302, MixPre, MM-1, and USBPre mixers as well as any other device with limited or non-existent headphone monitoring facilities.
