These cardioid microphones have been designed for end-address on-air broadcast application.
Rode Broadcaster is a large-diaphragm condenser type, with end-firing orientation to avoid obscuring the script tray and displays. Other specialist features include an integrated warning light!
The capsule is shock-mounted with a 1 inch diaphragm; low distortion performance is coupled with a frequency response tailored to give the warmth crucial to broadcast applications. A switched high-pass filter is provided along with a red 'On-Air' LED which can be controlled externally to inform the user when the microphone is 'live', for example (see Application note). Application note:
As dispatched, the microphone has a 3-pin XLR connector. In this configuration, the inbuilt LED indicator illuminates when phantom power is applied to the microphone. It cannot be controlled separately. However, included with the microphone is a 5-pin XLR insert. By replacing the 3-pin insert with this, two further pins become available to control the LED separately. The replacement of the insert requires technical ability and soldering.
PODMIC
Rode PodMic is an end address dynamic microphone with cardioid pickup pattern, designed for ‘broadcast-quality’ recording and optimised for use for the RODECaster Pro production studio.
Manufactured with all-metal construction, the microphone has an internal pop filter to reduce plosives, alongside a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz with a bias towards speech. The microphone is supported on a swivel cradle to aid ergonomic positioning whether mounted from above, on a boom arm, or below on a microphone stand; and has 3-pin XLR connection.

Rode Procaster is a dynamic, end-address microphone with ‘high output’ and balanced low impedance output. An internal pop filter reduces plosives such as “B”, “P”, and “T” whilst an internal shock mounting system reduces handling noise. A tight cardioid polar pattern and a frequency response ‘tailored-for-voice’ aid clarity of sound reproduction.
