A high-quality, stereo, line-level converter housed in a rugged, portable extruded box, which may be powered from a wide range of DC supplies. Aimed at converting analogue sources for use in fully digital installations, it is particularly suitable for partnering BCD's ALT-1 automatic preamplifier.
ATOD-1
The converter references to an external reference if available, which may be in the range of 35kHz to 110kHz, so may operate at 48kHz and 96kHz as well as consumer frequencies. In the absence of an external reference an internal reference of 48kHz is used. The single LED on the front panel has three colours to indicate initial calibration phase, lock to external or lock to internal clock. The internal control system inserts channel status information and maintains the sample frequency information. Nominal calibration is 0dBu input for -18dBFS digital output, preset internally.
Two electronically balanced analogue audio inputs are connected using a single XLR-5F connector. The AES-3 output and AES-3 reference input are XLR-3M and XLR-3F respectively, both transformer balanced and earth-free. Power is applied through a 2.5mm coaxial connector.
Audio inputs: Input impedance 30kohms, balance better than 60dB at 1kHz. Maximum level +26dBu. Distortion better than 0.005%. Output noise better than -104dBFS, wideband. Crosstalk better than -85dB and -100dB at 10kHz and 1kHz respectively. Reference input: Impedance 110 ohms, minimum level 200mV peak to peak. AES-3 output: Impedance 110ohms, 4V peak to peak, jitter better than 8nS. Power source: 8 - 30V DC. recommended 12-24V, 120mA at 12V. 2.5mm barrel, centre positive. Dimensions: 94 x 52 x 108 (w x h x d)mm. Weight:250g.
