CANFORD UNIVERSAL CONNECTOR U-BAR - Lacing bar

This handy device, designed by Canford Audio after a customer suggestion (yes, we do read them!), simplifies mounting Universal series connectors on smaller or custom-made panels, firstly by replacing the fiddly nuts on the back of the panel and secondly by providing a place to tie-off or lace the cable, without the expense of custom sized lacing bar manufacture.

The ‘U’ shaped steel bar is threaded M3 to 10mm depth at both ends, fits inside the “Universal” series footprint, and is long enough to clear an insulating cover. It can be held in place easily, without tools, while the connector fixing screws (not supplied) are fitted and tightened. The bar then provides a fixing point for the attached cable, making a neat and secure mechanical termination and avoiding the need for additional holes in the panel. Apart from its obvious usefulness on smaller panels, the ease of installation may prove invaluable on larger, densely-packed panels where multiple U-Bars provide a stronger lacing system than conventional lacing bars. Depth 62mm.

The length and type of the M3 screws used will depend on the application, but the most likely versions are listed below. Countersunk (“Csk”) head screws are suitable for mounting the connectors on the front of a panel, or reverse mounting where the panel has been countersunk. Pan head can be used for reverse mounting when the panel is not countersunk. “ZCP” denotes zinc plated clear passivated finish, suitable for matching nickel finish connectors, “ZBP” denotes zinc plated black passivated, for matching black shell connectors.
