A cable specifically manufactured for use in 100 volt line loudspeaker system installations. The cable has two twisted cores of 16/0.2mm (0.5mm sq.) tinned copper wire, with overall tubed sheath for easy stripping, and is generally similar in design to DEF STAN 16-2-2A. However, as the cable is specifically intended for use in public buildings, factories, offices, shops etc., the insulation and jacket materials are LFH compounds (low fire hazard), rather than PVC in the DEF STAN design. Cables using these materials are generally now mandatory in public building installations. Under combustion circumstances, LFH cables have a significantly reduced smoke emission, and the gaseous products contain no toxic halogens. To help identify the PA system cable from the many others found in building ductways, it is printed “loudspeaker cable” at regular intervals.
To obtain CPR Eca certification, two solid fillers are included in the cable to reduce longitudinal airflow.
