Copper foil tape, 18mm wide, 0.1mm thick (1.8mm²), insulated with 0.05mm thick Melinex tape bonded to the foil. Approximate resistance 1ohm/100m. Specifically intended for induction loop systems, where the loop has to pass under carpets or be located elsewhere that is not suited to conventional cable. Two tapes can equally well act, however, as the two conductors for a loudspeaker cable. Termination is made by local removal of the Melinex tape and soldering directly to the foil. To make corners, the tape is simply folded across itself. Supplied on reels of 50 metres.
Two specific installation accessories have been designed for use with this tape. One is a 50mm wide self-adhesive cloth tape (which adheres well to concrete and stone etc.) printed ‘warning-induction loop – do not cut’ – to help avoid later difficulties due to damage by carpet fitters etc. The other is a plastic ‘double-ramp’ extrusion, of very low profile, with self-adhesive sides, to go over the 18mm tape and provide some degree of mechanical protection – for example along walls, skirtings and stair-risers. The adhesive warning tape is supplied on reels of 50 metres, and the plastic extrusion in 3 metre lengths. Price is per reel and per length respectively.
