Housed in durable metal enclosures, these are portable or bench-top instruments for system verification, alignment and testing. The PT-ASG1 portable audio signal generator provides stable audio signal source with both balanced microphone and line outputs as well as an unbalanced output suitable for consumer equipment. The PT-AMG2 portable audio signal generator and monitor has a similar signal generator as well as a monitor loudspeaker, an LED level meter and a phase indicator, fed by either balanced microphone or line-level inputs or the consumer-level unbalanced input. Both may be operated using batteries or optional AC power adapters.
PT-ASG1 Portable Audio Signal Generator
This has an oscillator operating at 700Hz; the oscillator output is compared against an internal temperature-stable reference in a gain-controlled loop that adjusts the final output level with stability suited to accurate bench top audio testing. There are two outputs; The balanced output may be switched to provide either microphone or line level and give the same output with microphone preamplifier inputs above 200 ohms. The unbalanced output provides a -10dBV signal suitable for consumer equipment.
The front panel has a button to switch between microphone or line-level for the balanced output and LED indicators for 'power on' and 'low battery'.
The upper panel has one RCA (phono) connector providing the unbalanced output and a female XLR for the balanced microphone/line level output. A recessed toggle switch switches between battery power or the external coaxial, power inlet connector.
The bottom panel houses the battery compartment which has an output level calibration trimmer, and a switch to set the balanced line output to either +4dBu or +6dBu.

PT-AMG2 Portable Audio Signal Generator and Monitor
This combines in one instrument the facilities offered by the PT-ASG1 portable audio signal generator with a monitor loudspeaker, an LED level meter and a phase indicator. The meter, loudspeaker and phase indicator are fed by two inputs; the unbalanced input has a input level of -10dBV for a 0dB meter reading, the balanced input can be set to either +4dBu or +6dBu for a 0dB meter reading when in line level mode. When the balanced input is in microphone mode, -46dBu, (50dB below +4dBu; 0VU = +4dBu) will result in a 0dB meter reading.
The front panel has a switch to set the balanced output to microphone or line level and indicators for 'power on' and 'low battery', similar to the PT-ASG1. In addition there is a switch to set the balanced input to microphone or line level, a loudspeaker grille and a rotary speaker level control. A column of eight LED back-lit windows forms a level meter, with indications of -20 dB, -10 dB, -3 dB, -1 dB, 0 dB, +1 dB, +3 dB, +10 dB. These increments permit coarse level indication and adjustment, and final level setting to within 0.5dB of operating level. A further 'in phase' LED illuminates when the oscillator output and metering input are in phase (0 dB level or greater) for checking system and cable phase.
The upper panel has a male XLR connector and RCA (phono) connector for the balanced and unbalanced outputs and a power switch and co-axial power inlet in a similar arrangement to the PT-ASG1. In addition there is a female XLR and RCA (phono) connector for the balanced and unbalanced inputs.
The bottom panel has access to two battery compartments, for two 9V batteries, an output level calibration trimmer, and a switch to set the balanced line input and output to either +4dBu or +6dBu.
