This free-standing unit allows the remote switching of mains powered equipment such as illuminated signs, cue lights etc., while maintaining electrical isolation from the mains. Control is implemented using either a closing contact across XLR pins 1 and 3, or by applying 5-50 volts DC across XLR pins 2 and 3. Switching occurs at the zero-crossing point of the mains cycle, which, together with spike suppression components, ensures that interference is virtually eliminated. Mains input and output connectors are IEC 60320 type C14 and F, with a 20mm fuse on the input line. The control input uses an XLR 3-pin female panel connector.

Application note:
Although primarily for switching incandescent lamps, it can easily be adapted to switch LED Lamps by cutting an internal link.
The switcher can supply a current of up to 8mA when switched off, so it may not be suitable for driving very light loads e.g. some LED lights etc.
WARNING: THE CASE IS CONNECTED TO MAINS EARTH - ALWAYS USE MAINS EARTH!
