CANFORD MUSA CONNECTORS - Metrology Grade

Originally invented by the British Post Office (GPO) to patch experimental radar the 'Multi-User Steerable Array' system was abbreviated to MUSA and is now a standard connector for video routing and patching. These special 75 ohm silver plated connectors are for metrology applications. They are based on a completely new, precision version of the original MUSA design, developed by Canford specifically for 3G and 1.5G high definition, standard definition broadcast studio applications. The cable connector is the female type, and the panel connector is the male type.

The female connector is designed to fit all Canford group Y 75 ohm cables, in particular SDV-F (flexible) which has a stranded centre conductor and was specifically designed for use as a patch cable for digital and analogue video applications. Access for a soldering iron is via an aperture in the side of the one-piece body. A crimp-sleeve secures the screen and covers the aperture. Strain-relief bushes are available in a wide range of colours, see Canford Strain Relief Bushes - For BNC and MUSA.

The male connector has a single panel-hole mounting, with solder connection and earth tag.

The body parts are silver plated brass and centre contacts are silver plated beryllium copper.

In-line adapters are available, based on the same connector design.

Note: These connectors are NOT intended for use in broadcast systems, and are manufactured to special order.
