These industry standard, hybrid fibre, HD camera cables use Lemo SMPTE304 connectors and Belden 7804EPU SMPTE standard cable. They are assembled to order by Canford, usually on short lead times. The cables, which are generically referred to as SMPTE311M, incorporate two singlemode fibres, two power conductors and two low-voltage conductors, laid up around a stainless-steel strength member, with a copper braid plus a rugged, abrasion-resistant jacket.
The Lemo 3K.93C stainless steel connectors incorporate the highly-reliable Lemo push-pull latching system and are suitable for up to 20,000 mating cycles. With correct care and cleaning, the fibre contacts are also suitable for this level of endurance.
For detailed specifications of the cable, see Belden SMPTE311 Fibre HDTV Camera Cables

Note that pricing shown is for the cable assembly only, supplied loose-coiled or on non-returnable transit reels. A range of SMPTE311M fibre assemblies, utilising various manufacturers SMPTE311M cable complete with Lemo FUW-PUW SMPTE connectors, are also available pre-wound onto metal cable drums or 'Skeleton' cable reels. See CANFORD CABLE DRUMS - SMPTE311M HYBRID FIBRE - Metal drum, supplied with cables
Cable drums with external 'tail' supports can also be ordered separately, see Canford cable drums - Steel drum, see Canford cable drums - Rubber drum or see Canford Skeleton cable reels - Trolley and Reeling stand. See also the Canford cable drum capacity calculator in the Technical section, to select the correct drum.
Canford's fibre termination facility is certified by Lemo for termination of the Lemo SMPTE304 connectors.
As part of our final test process Canford carry out both insertion and return loss measurement, as well as interferometry measurement on all Fibre terminations. Although some termination facilities do not use interferometry and rely merely on insertion and return loss testing to determine results Canford will always carry out interferometry as standard. Test results including 3D imagery of terminations can be supplied upon request.
Interferometry measures three critical dimensions required for continued reliability, end shape (radius of curvature measured in mm), the polished apex offset (measured in um) and fibre height (measured in nm). These three parameters all fall within tight industry standards which guarantees reliability when mating random connectors.
