Wohler AMP1A Plus audio monitor is a self-powered, stereo audio monitoring of two analogue channels (1x stereo channel). AMP1A Plus contains four transducers driven by three power amplifiers. One amplifier/driver combination handles midrange and high frequency information in stereo, while the second handles summed low frequency information below the 500Hz crossover point.

The design provides focused sound for operators in a near field of 1-3ft. The speaker output is 5watts RMS per side, 10watts peak; with RMS bass of 10watts continuous/20watts peak. Peak acoustic output is rated at 98dB SPL at 2ft. Extended high frequency response reveals potential problems with audio whine or hiss. Electronic rather than acoustic cancellation of bass frequencies provides positive audible detection of out-of-phase (reversed polarity) audio feeds.

A 6.35mm headphone jack with associated volume control is positioned on the front facing panel. When the headphone output is in use, the speakers are muted automatically. All audio I/O connectivity, including loop-through, is by way of 3-pin XLR connectors.

AMP1-DA/106 is a self-powered, 2-channel audio monitor analogue and AES/EBU digital sources. 106 segment LEDs add visual monitoring. This audio monitor is suited for use in VTR bays, mobile production vehicles, teleconferencing installations, multimedia systems, satellite link and cable TV facilities, and on-air radio studios.

A tri-colour LED design allows a variety of options such as phase correlation, peak hold, and alternate scales. Level calibration may be set via dip switches to select one of four different calibration levels.

A 6.35mm headphone jack with associated volume control is positioned on the front facing panel. When the headphone output is in use, the speakers are muted automatically. Other than the headphone output on the front facing panel, all I/O connectivity is on the rear facing panel; including 2x unbalanced BNC AES/EBU digital inputs, 2x balanced 3-pin XLR analogue inputs (1 stereo), and 2x balanced 3-pin XLR analogue output of selected source.

Both AMP1-2SDA and AMP1-2SDA+ are 1U, rackmountable, 2-channel audio monitors designed for network facility or OB truck for live events. The monitors feature a large front panel screen that displays the selected source and monitored pair; along with brightly displayed levels on 2 x 26 segment LED meters. Additional features include simple tone controls for adjusting audio output and an audio trim control for altering the analogue output levels.

Audio connectivity is available via either 1 x 3G-SDI (with looped output), 1 x AES3 input pair, and either of 2 pairs of Analog inputs (balanced or unbalanced). Analogue and AES3 outputs of the selected pair are included in the unit for external monitoring. In addition, AMP1-2SDA+ has 8 pairs of both analogue and AES3 on 3x DB-25 inputs as standard.

Speaker power output is 5watts RMS per side, 12watts peak, with a peak acoustic output of 90dB SPL at 2ft.

Both of these units offer the same dual input with 3G, HD, and SD-SDI. AMP1-8-M is an 8-channel audio monitor, AMP1-16-M is a 16-channel audio monitor. Both have been designed by Wohler for use in the studio or on the road.

Both units have automatic frame rate detection, which on the AMP1-8-M allows the user to get quick selection and summing of up to eight audio channels and choose between two SDI inputs - toggling selection of channels 1-thru-8 or channels 9-thru-16. AMP1-16-M allows the user to get quick selection and summing of eight audio pairs and choose between two SDI inputs and access 16-channels via 8 pairs.

Other standard features include volume and balance controls, push-button selection of audio channels, SDI looped outputs, and conversion to analogue on XLR. Finally, level meters and phase display on two 2.4-inch LCDs.

The rear panel host I/O connectivity including dual, balanced 3-pin XLR analogue outputs, RJ45 Ethernet connection, SDI 1 I/O on BNC, SDI 2 I/O on BNC, and a fifth BNC connection for selected SDI out. Mains connection is via IEC type input. The front facing panel hosts a USB connection for software updated and storage transfer, and a single 6.35mm headphone jack output with associated volume control. The class D amplifier allows the inbuilt speakers to produce 6watts RMS per side, 12watts peak.

eAMP Series

Wohler eAMP series offers ‘fast and intuitive’ confidence monitoring of AES3 and analogue audio sources. Whether in the studio or on the road, eAMP units provide simultaneous selection and summing of the selected source. They also feature adjustable volume and balance controls, clear display of levels, and phase indications.

eAMP monitors have been designed to be easier to operate than the now-obsolete Wohler S8. They include a wide 7-inch LCD touchscreen display providing fast access to input sources, meters and menus, all augmented by hardware controls. Software upgrades include loudness, presets, web meters/monitoring/configuration and customized output routing. Dolby D, DD+ and E decoding are also optional add-ons.

Being the replacement models for AMP1-8-M, AMP1-16-M many of the features are the same, including dual input with 3G, HD, and SD-SDI. One of the main upgrades is the 7-inch LCD touchscreen which for better monitoring, menu navigation and selection, and adjustment. Another upgrade is the lower power consumption which is 19W as opposed to 60W. eAMP1-8-M is an 8-channel audio monitor, eAMP1-16-M is a 16-channel audio monitor. Both have been designed by Wohler for use in the studio or on the road.
