GLENSOUND AUDIO INTERFACES - Dante/Ravenna

A range of analogue/AES3 to Dante/AES67 and Dante/AES67 to analogue/AES3 interfaces from Glensound. These interfaces are designed to be used in broadcast audio and recording studios whereby a reliable and high quality end product is required. The AES3 interfaces have been designed for use in outside broadcast, theatre, and location applications, where interfacing between AES3 and Dante/AES67 is required.

DARK16I - 16x analogue input to Dante

DARK16I is a 19” 1RU sub-rack that provides sixteen analogue audio inputs to a Dante/AES67 AoIP network. These audio inputs are balanced line level signals and for ease of installation are presented on the rear panel XLRs.

The rear facing panel of the DARK16I provides sixteen audio inputs into the network. Each input is on its own Neutrik 3-pin XLR socket. The inputs are electronically balanced and can be connected to unbalanced outputs if required. Each audio input can be sampled at up to 192k, which is four times the 48k rate used by most broadcasters and double the 96k rate used by lots of professional audio systems. There are two IEC mains sockets, primary and secondary. Both are a standard IEC mains socket that accepts external AC voltage of 100 – 240 VAC +/- 10%. There is a non-accessible internal fuse for this input. DARK16I is designed to operate with either primary or secondary mains sources or both for power redundancy.

The front facing panel of the DARK16I has four red LEDs and four green LEDs that illuminate depending on the status of the link. Red indicates no connection, green indicates a successful connection. For example, if you have connected the DARK16I to two separate PSUs only one of which works then you will have a red ‘fault’ LED illuminate to warn you that there is no power detected on the connection that is not receiving mains power. There is one 8-way female D-type connector which is an alarm status connection that will report the failure of a link status if one is detected whilst in operation. The mini-USB connection allows the firmware of the DARK16I to be updated along with the blue identify button and reset button. Two SFP slots are provided to take optional primary and secondary SFP fibre interfaces for the network connection. Two Ethernet sockets provide primary and secondary copper Ethernet connections.

Analogue frequency response: 20Hz to 22kHz, +/-0.25dB. Full scale: 0dBFs = +18dBu, factory default; 0dBFs = +20dBu; 0dBFs = +24dBu. Input Impedance: greater than or equal to 20kOhms, factory default; 600 Ohms, set by internal link. Distortion: 0.0013%, at 100Hz; 0.0022%, at 1kHz; 0.00094% at 10kHz, Reference to +8dBu output. Noise: -93dB, at line up, A weighted RMS. Inter-channel cross talk: greater than 101dB, at line up with 1kHz Tone. Input type: Electronically balanced (can be wired unbalanced). Network interface: 2x Neutrik RJ45 Ethercon sockets and 2x GBIC SFP module slots. Protocol: Dante and AES67. Audio sample rates: 32 to 192kS/s. Power connections: 2x mains filtered IEC, 100 to 240 VAC 47-63Hz. AC consumption: 18 watts at 230VAC. Internal mains fuse: 20mm, 1A anti surge. Audio connectors: Neutrik 3-pin XLR sockets. Alarm connector: 9-way D-socket. Alarm type: solid state relay. Dimensions: 1RU x 300mm, excluding connectors. Weight: 2.8kg.

Included items: Handbook, 1x 2m CAT5 RJ45 plug/plug cable, 1x 2m IEC socket cable.

DARK16O - 16x analogue outputs to Dante

DARK1616 - 16x16 line-level and AES to Dante

DARK1616D - 8x8 AES to Dante

DARK1616M - 16x16 mic/line-level and AES to Dante

Optional SFP Modules

Dante/SFPS is a single-mode module and Dante/SFPM is multi-mode. Dante/SFP1 and Dante/SFP2 are for use over distances up to 10km and are WDM (wavelength-division multiplexing) types, a multiplexing technology which can be used to enable bi-directional communication over a single fibre. Dante/SFP1 should be used in a pair with SFP2 Dante breakout boxes: See Dante interfaces.
